God is in the details...On the face of it, the Mosaic Law gives several ‘scandalous’ imperatives that assault modern sensibilities and that seem to do nothing more than to fuel objections to Biblical theism!
After all, if God is all-loving and all-good, how could he for example determine that a disobedient child be stoned to death?

An Unreasonable God?

Mocaic LawOne of the many objections that scoffers tend to level against Biblical theism, is that the Old Testament, they charge, makes commands that seem unreasonable, unethical and even quite barbaric! They argue that if that is who the God the Bible is all about, then they would rather have nothing to do with him (as if anyone could ever escape God!) However, their ‘objection’ betrays not only a deficient understanding of the Mosaic Law, but that the law ultimately serves but one purpose… to drive men to Christ!
